OUR STORY

Crunch Technologies was launched in August 2014 by Benjamin Langdon to specialize in contract opto-mechnanical and ultra-fast optical design. The company leverages Dr. Langdon's previous experience designing, building and supporting first-of-their kind Ti:sapphire amplifiers to serve the academic, national lab and basic research markets.

In 2016 we moved into our current location in Boulder, Colorado. This allowed for complete laser system manufacturing and development. As a bonus, this facility allowed us to house a full complement of metal fabrication capabilities to help us serve our customers.

Building on our consulting and contract work from the past 3 years, we have developed the first round of products and platforms to serve our customers’ needs. The highlight of the last year has been the opportunity to deliver the first Big Blue Amplifier to the Artemis ultrafast XUV facility at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

CORE VALUES

Crunch Technologies strives to be a different laser equipment and service company. We are successful only when our customers are successful.

“Listen first, then take our cues from you”—At Crunch Technologies our primary goal is to provide customer centered service, components, assistive technologies, and full ultra fast laser systems to the academic and research markets. Rather than being overly prescriptive in our customer relationships, we listen and then adapt our products, service and expertise to their needs.

“As big as we need to be”—Why should this matter to the customer? As research funding continues to be stretched thinner, your equipment funds have to work harder and smarter to stay competitive and accomplish your research objectives. How much of your equipment funds are going to the administrative overhead of the manufacturer and how much is going toward product development, support and improvement? Crunch Technologies is structured to put as much sales margin as possible back into the product development, manufacturing efficiency and customer support.

“PYA: Preservation of Your Assets”—We believe that maintaining a cutting edge research program does not require continuous turnover of valuable research equipment. It is entirely feasible to bring an aging, high-maintenance ultra fast light source up to current performance standards with the replacement of a few key components and addition of assistive technologies. Why decommission or scavenge an entire amplifier system when you could update and refresh a few parts to significantly improve up time and reliability?
